initial setup

I have just done a initial setup, with coral and live rock. I had bought the live rock from a store and i believe it is dead because of the cost of it. I was told that in one week it will be ok to purchase 4 to 5 fish to test and get the bacteria started. I didn't scrub my live rock before putting it into the tank. Will it hurt my cycle process if i take it out and scrub it and place it back in there. The rock doesn't seem to be in bad shape it has some purple color to it and has a green coating to it. Obviously you can tell that i don't have much experience with this yet, but i have great interest in the hobby. Hopefully I can find some answers. Thank you. Steve

well if the rock is dead it can become live again over time. You mentioned corals, do you have corals in your tank now?? What i would do is remove any livestock you have in the tank to allow it to cycle. I would suggest getting a few lbs of Live Rock to seed your base/dried rock. This process is called curing, and can take 2-6 weeks to be finished and okay for livestock. This part of the process takes patience and i would not advise on picking up any fish for at least a month if not longer.
