Mike,
I understand where you are coming from. I enjoy helping others and always feel funny if/when someone helps me.
Well the top three tanks are no sitting on wood shelves and are all level. The sump will get done tomorrow.
Thanks

Matt, I have tried that yet as I need to get the shelves under it first.
Timmy, thanks for the offer and I might take you up on it.

Solved!!
So i put a ball valve and an elbow at the return pump and instead of letting all of hte flow go to the top tank, diverted some back into the sump.
It is completely silent now.
I realized that flow was the issue when I shut the pump off and the tanks took forever to stop empting, which meant there was a back up of water.
Now I am working on mounting the DC8's and stuff so I can get rid of the ugly extension cord!!!

Just stare at teh picture in the earlier part of the thread and that is what it sounds like.
Now I have the Aqua Controller III hooked up and running the pumps and getting the temp where it should be.
Time to start making the frag racks.
What size PVC does everyone use?

I used 3/4 inch for mine, one thing to think about instead of using egg crate is to use acyrlic; just drill a bunch of holes. I am going to switch mine to be acrylic instead....will just do it over time...

Now you tell me, I already bought black egg crate from bulk reef supply.
I was looking at menards for the corner piece for the frag rack and I couldn't find them in 3/4 inch. They had liek 3/4 X 3/4 X 1/2 or some wierd combination like that.
Where did you get your corner pieces?
I would like to go with 1/2 inch if I could find all the pieces. That would take up less room in the tanks.
Oh yeah and my sand bed is in the refugium and this week I will get some chateo (sp?) for it .

I know these are not black...but I have seen peeps use the 2' x 4' diffuser grids used in suspended ceilings for flurescent lighting....they make good cheap egg crate....just a thought....cut to the size you need

Unless I'm mistaken, the diffuser is also known as eggcrate...works well, though sometimes it can get growth between grids where it's tough to remove.
I've thought of the acrylic, but there is not as much flow from the bottom up...I'm still trying to decide which to use.

I used the 3/4 x 3/4 x 1/2 to connect them together...can't rememeber if they had the 1/2 x 1/2 x 1/2 or not...didn't look, I was going a bigger span so wanted the 3/4. Since you have the black it might not be too bad, problem is cleaning it if it gets covered in algae.... I haven't a had huge problem with it but some other people have...
