But, seriously doesn't that sound like it would work out well if you had a few starfish to cycle through? Or am I just talking crazy again?
I have always liked the look of these guys as well thus I'm so curious if this method would work. It'd be a lot of effort just to keep ONE SHRIMP... But, with the look of them and the way they act in the tank I think it would definately be worth the time investment.

The question would be how long would it take to regenerate a leg, and I thought don't quote me here just thought I read it someplace that in captivity they usually don't regrow the legs or it just take a really long time.

I figured that there would be a catch somewhere... It sounded good in theory.

Cary is right and Thats what I was going to post. It took over 6 months just to get two stubs on the linkia. Thats why I figured he will have plenty to eat with all the other stars in the tank.... i figure there should be over a year + supply in the tank. Just depends on how often it eats.

do they eat the Asterina stars? (the small ones everyone has)
*Actually did a bit of research and I answered my own question... Yes they do* I'd be curious to know how many they eat each time they feed as I have literally HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS of them.

whats the main food source for the asterina star?? If you could ensure there would be a plentiful population after several months, then your tank would be a great tank for a harlequin shrimp.

that's pretty **** awesome to see the shrimp do that aaron... I'm really curious how long it takes until you notice a significant drop in star population though. I'll be keeping close tabs on this post as this could be a very viable option for me (4 tanks all loaded with stars) lol.

Ok, now that I've seen the spider-like "underside" of the Harlequin, I'm now kind of freaked out by it. lol

SHE'S A KEEPER MATT!!! DO NOT LOSE HER!!! LOL
Jen's very much like that as well... Impresses me when people come over to the house and she starts systematically naming off the corals (common name and often times even the scientific name... *gets me feeling all funny in the pants* lol)
