Flow in Refugium

So I have chaeto in my refugium, not a ton by any means and have a Koralia Nano for water movement.

Lately the chaeto is coming apart from the flow and is being sucked into the pump and moving the chaeto around the tank (in a slow tumbling way) that I am worried it is going to get sucked into the pump and I won't be there and it will burn the pump up or something.

How does everyone else handle flow in their fuge?

I've got a ball valve to control the water going to seperate sides of my sump.

Could you put your Koralia on the other side so the chaeto is pushed into the side that the pump isnt on? Or when you say "pump" are you talking about your Koralia? Either way, I doubt a little bit of chaeto is gonna burn out the pump.

Maybe you should have Jeff do a diagram for you so we know better whats going on in the fuge.

I mean the powerhead is the pump. I will play with it.

Jeff, could surely do a diagram if he was able to read this post!

I think ideally you want your chaeto to tumble slowly. The design of my ghetto sump does not allow this although I could put a small powerhead directed at it to help possibly. hrmmmm You gave me an idea.

I placed a piece of plexiglass in front of my return pump with small holes drilled into it to allow flow to the return but it blocks the chaeto from getting sucked into it. That happened once (chaeto sucked into the pump) and I had to tear apart my plumbing to get the chaeto out.

Mine tumbles slowly, but I am worried it will get sucked into the Power Head. I should add that I have a dedicated 15 gallon fuge that is feed by my return pump and then that tank overflows to the next tank.

I like the plexiglass idea.
