fish adventures
I'd been trying to spot my new sailfin blenny for a few days to make sure he's feeding. He's extra small, perhaps an inch long, not much more, and super cute. I was getting really worried last night after a thorough survey of the tank...could he be in a cave? I chanced a glimpse at my overflow...it's an external Lifereef one, clear in nature. It's nice because I can see all of the crap sitting in there that I can't actually vaccuum up...real nice. Behold who is staring back at me...but the little blenny. He'd gone through the teeth of the internal overflow, up the 1" U-tube and into the first chamber of the external box, then into the second chamber. There is a silencer device over the overflow, so he wasn't going anywhere, but it still took 20 minutes to catch the little bugger, in a 4-5 box! I know this happens to others, but this was the first ride my own fish have taken.
Tonight I gave another look around after feeding...and I saw a view that struck my heart cold...one of my PJ cardinals, who is rather large, had 1" white "whiskers"...protruding from his mouth...yes, the antennae of my new, also super tiny, scarlet cleaner shrimp. I have hopes that he molted due to the iodine I added a few days ago, but fear that he's now dinner.
I guess you win some, and you lose some.
This weekend I hope you find yourself and don't end up as dinner.
Matt
