Eggs?
Hi everyone,
I noticed my Yellow-tailed Damsel had laid some eggs. Cool. The tank has only been set up since January 30th of this year.

This one shows her cleaning the eggs. I don't know if you can see them very well but if you look close you can see all of the baby fish eyes shining.

I don't know if I posted this right, (still having troubles with getting the pictures into my thread), and if I didn't, just look in my images.

My bad, I thought the female of the species tended the eggs, but I did some searching on the web, and it seems that the males are the ones that take care of them. This is the same as clownfish, but the males in yellow-tail Damsels are the larger sex not the female.

Cool Dave!! I would have thought the same, that the females were the bigger gender.

Hard to see from the image Dave... But, it would definately be cool if you managed to raise up a successful batch after such a short time of having this tank running!
About loading in pictures to the site.
But, if you go underneath the text area when you are typing the message there is the "Manage Attachments" button. You click the button and it will open a new window where you "Upload File from your Computer". You just click the "Browse" button then just go to the location of your pictures. After that just click the "Upload" button.
Hope that helps.
Jason

Thanks Jason,
If you look in my images you can get a better look at it, or I just set up a photobucket account last night so all of my newest pics are on there.

That works as well.. I use photobucket as well as a few others and it just works out well for displaying everything you want to show.

Photobucket is great. I post all my pictures there, then I get the "[IMG]" links that appear when you hover your cursor over the picture on Photobucket. Just paste those "[IMG]" strings of letters/numbers into your post and magically the pictures will be on TRT hassle-free without having to worry about attachment sizes and such.

sounds like it could be fun to watch and learn.... But possibly a pain with a tank full of damsels.

Hey Joe, thanks for the info on photobucket, I'll will try that when I post my updated tank pictures for Matt's thread. How do I link my page on P.B. in a thread so everyone can go there? I would rather do that instead of having to resize all of my pictures to put them on here.
Aaron, I will post more pictures of these eggs as they mature. I wish I had known when they were laid so I could tell how long the gestation period was. I saw this fish sleeping in this spot a few days ago so I will guess and say they were laid March 25th 09. This is a rough estimate on how long it takes to hatch, but should be cool to document. This is the first time in my 15 years of keeping a reef tank that I have had fish spawn in a tank of mine.
I also did a little searching to find out it probably is not worth the effort to raise these even if I could. It seems you need to feed them a certain type of live food. It would be cool if some survived, but I'm not counting my fry before they hatch ( pun intended )

You shouldn't have to do any resizing whatsoever to put them on here. Unless your camera takes those ungodly huge pictures that fill up the entire screen and then some, but those would be wayyyyy bigger than 800x600 or 1024x768 or whatever the "usual" sizes are that digital cameras take.
As far as how to link to your photobucket page, just go to your Photobucket page and then click on "log out" at the top, then copy the link and paste it here. That should allow everyone to go right to your gallery of pictures.

I have to resize ALL of my pictures... Typically have to reduce them 1/3 of their original size so I guess I have one of those cameras lol.
As far as photobucket goes... You don't have to log out to get the links... Under each picture there are 3 options...
Email & IM
Direct Link
IMG Code
You can do either the Direct Link (which will give the address to that EXACT picture) or you can do the IMG Code into your writing area which will directly place the picture into your text area.
This way you don't have to keep logging in and out to do your pictures (I actually never log out of PB just makes it easier so the next time you go there you are already logged in).

Ok, so I discovered the "redneck" way to post a link to your Photobucket by logging out and then copying and pasting from the address bar of your browser.
You just taught me something new that I should have probably known myself, Jason! I think I just lost my status as a Mac Nerd and tech guru........ lol

Nah you still get to keep that status... Everyone learns something from someone at sometime. There is a ton more stuff that I have no clue on that I'm sure you could breeze through. I was just trying to save everyone a step as this does work.
