Now the secret is out...ok, not so big of a secret, but these things rock. I'll look at my depth tomorrow...it takes a bit of tuning to figure out what depth works for your bioload, but prepare for the stink!

Nick...my sump is about 11" deep...but I have mine on a riser (four pvc spacers with a plate atop it) so it is at 7.5". It works for me, though it did take some tinkering. I empty every few days. If I don't, the skimmate gets darker and darker over 3-4 days, and smells more rotten than you could ever figure it could.

Yeah i was just reading somewhere that had said the ideal depth was 9-11 inches so I thought I'd give that a try. It actually seems to be working better now that i lowered it into the water a bit more. I'm finally getting it tuned in after coming home last night it had a good foam head on top and some nasty green nog in the cup so I'm really happy with its performance.

So as to not start new unnecessary threads, the Bubble King is doing AMAZING.

And I purchased a Tunze Osmolator for my topoff system. It was increadibly easy to hook up and started working instantly. The only small complaint that I have is that the little pump that refills the water sounds like a small airplane when it kicks in but my topoff tank is outside the stand so that probly doesnt help. If you don't have one of these its definately something you should purchase. Let me know if people need pictures to see the layout. Until recently I hadn't ever looked into them either.
