DOW Flake, Brian?

Brian, I think you got some dowflake from a local place in La crosse at one point. Farrell equipment has 50 pound bags for $14. Do you know if this flake is safe to use or is the Bromine in all of it now? I want to save $$$ on twopart but wanna be careful.

The stuff I have is from the pre-Bromine bags, however, I've heard that there is still not enough Bromine in the bags to worry about it. (Although I haven't tried it yet to see how my corals react).

hrmmm, I posted on the general forum and someone stated that dowflake is putting stuff in the calc chloride intentionally so that reefers would not use it. Time to do some more research I suppose.

I picked up Prestone Driveway Heat from home Depot a few years ago and that works just fine.

The last thing time that I read up on Dowflake, they had decided not to remove the Bromine from the Dowflake as a cost saving measure. When they first did this, there was panic around for a while until it was determined that nobody could see any negative impact to their tanks, nor does anyone understand what impact (positive, negative, or anything at all) Bromine has. Once people realized this and tested it out, the concerns mostly went away with hte people that had kept up to date with this issue. I haven't seen anything since then saying that they are adding anything specifically to prevent people from using it in their reef tanks, but I could be behind in the times (again). Let me know what you find out.
