Does Anyone Have Fish/Lighting for sale??
I just started my tank a good 8 months ago now and I am looking to add more fish to it. I would also like to get my hands on some high powered lighting so i can start to add coral. I just cant afford to go out and buy this lighting brand new for the 250/300+ that every store seem to want for it. If anyone has lighting or fish that they can part with please contact me. (if I could get some lighting, I would then be looking for coral too)
Thanks Zach
P.S. Can I add anemonies without high powererd lighting? If so what do you recommened?

Zach,
In about 2 months I will have a 4x110 VHO lighting fixture, with 2 icecap ballasts, for sale. It's for a 4' tank. On my 90g it will grow pretty much anything, and it is not too power hungry.

Matt's lighting is very good. You can grow Montipora and Galaxae like nobodies business using his lights!!!

Zach... you could always do what I do and watch the classifieds on Reefcentral.com (buy and sell section)... It's where I bought my first skimmer sold my coralife light fixture(s) and bought a lot of other misc. odds and ends (pumps, reactors, ect.). It's a good place to look otherwise as hansmatt said his fixture is a good unit *I can vouch for it as I've seen it in action (as have many others in the group)*.

Well, Matt's VHO system would do that... He has some sps (small polyp stony) in his tank and they do fantastic (judging by the 18" round montipora cap he has in his tank) *Although I can't really call it round as it's grown to the glass in the corner of his tank* hehe

I have a few new montis that are doing well...the purple rimmed one many of us have. It's doubled in size in the last month...now 4-5" across. The green monti is really taking off too, and beginning to whorl. These will be pruned to make sure they don't take over the world!

When it comes to lighting, you'll want to make sure you get a good unit so that you don't need to worry about upgrading lighting in the near future. The better PC lighting units are alright for smaller tank, but VHO, T5 HO, and MH are usually better choices, except over nano tanks. For a 55 gal tank, VHO or T5 HO would probably be your best bet. Matt's unit would probably work out great for that size of a tank.
BTW - All anemones that are commonly kept in reef tanks need a lot of light so you will need to wait until you have your new lighting prior to getting an anemone.

pc's would work niceley also if he is looking for a softer light. If you want stony corals though they would not be good for it.
