I'm glad you took the pic with you in front of it. It's funny, but even HUGE tanks don't look big until you get something next to it for reference. That's a beast! LOL
Gonna be fun watching it all come together for you. Keep posting. And, congrats!
Jen

NP... sorry about forgetting to glue the one joint... Like I said it was a mad dash at the end and I still can't believe it took as long as it did to leak lol. Normal leaks only take a matter of minutes to a few days... This took a month to two months lol... I must've had it tight just no glue lol.

lol yeah you had it cranked on pretty good, I still had to strain to move it The leak was no big deal, scared the hell out of me but it was easily remedied. I learned a lot from watching you, I feel pretty confident with my plumbing abilities now. And yeah at the end we were rushing hard to get done, considering Jen was about ready to kill you

Reefluvr: Funny you say that you like the picture with me in front of it. My girlfriend didn't realize how big the tank was because she takes for granted how tall I really am, so ACTUALLY as I look at it I make the tank look small with my long reach and being 6'5"
Lol. Should be a new challenge for me. Going to be a long process setting up I think, changing my light setup, PLUMBING!, etc. I see lots of pictures of people throwing their kids in the tank, but since I don't have any kids, and I doubt I want to try to put a 75# pitbull in there, so I might have to crawl in there myself for a pic
Should hopefully hold LOTS of zoas!
I plan on doing linear actuators of some type to be able to raise the canopy for maintenance or ?(if I retro). I saw it on youtube, and I GOTTA try that! I also plan on doing a 2 piece arch with the rock from one side of the tank to the other with a full opening underneath it, but hard to say right now with the 8 boxes of rock staring at me and the other 75# in the 55 right now.
And yes Jason, I would love it if you could come up here and give me a hand plumbing. I have been moving things around, doing a LOT of head scratching so far.
Will keep everybody updated and will get a posting going for the sand available. Me being the guy that I am forgot that the 7th of February is a Happy 4 years with my lovely gf that allowed me to get the 180........SOOOOOO, I'll be at the meeting with her, or I'll be at the meeting alone (and single), or ???
I also ran into an old friend today and got to talking to him about saltwater stuff. His roommate has a reef tank, he wants to get into it, and they have like 4 other friends in Rapids here that have sw tanks that I didn't know about. Look forward to meeting them and letting them know about LARK and the meetings and such.

There you go Scott.. a Chance to get a Rapids Club going... Seeing you are kinda in your own little bubble (being about an hour away from us) you guys could get something started. But, yes please tell them about us as we always welcome new members as well as new tanks to see.
Like I said whenever you want to do the plumbing just give me a weekend (hopefully before my baby is born lol) and we'll go from there.
Jason

1-28-09 Update:
Unfortunately we are held up by a tile guy at work, sooooooo I had today off from work to play. Went to the hardware store and picked up a little pvc and fittings to build my new standpipes for the overflows. Going to use a few pieces of the originals, but hard to take apart a system that never had any unions anywhere in it I think, but yet he bought me 2- 1" and 4- 3/4" true unions for it. Yet ANOTHER great aspect of the deal.
Last night, d#mn the luck and thanks to cell phones that go to ebay while playing pool league, I picked up a 18 month old 72" Coralife Aqualight Pro 3 x 250 and 4 x 96 for the new 180.
