A new setup is born

As the title says... Everyone knows that I went through all of the trouble of tearing my ENTIRE 125 gallon setup down (which took almost 10 HOURS to do) and moved everything into temporary tanks in the basement (which took almost 14 hours to PLUMB together) but, it seems like the effort is going to be worth the investement.

First off I will post a pic of the before and after of the hardwood floors we had and now have in the house.

Then I will post pics of what everyone wants to see which is the new IN-WALL basement setup that I built. It's currently soaking in a vinegar bath to remove the dead coraline algae... But, that will all be changed over this weekend as hopefully all the sand will have been cleaned, baked, and sifted so it's all fine grade sand (only going with a 2-3" sandbed this time around though instead of the 6-7" one I had before).

The sump is going to be moved from the location that everyone who has been to my house remembers to a location dramatically closer to the actual tank (just for plumbing purposes). The 70 gallon is going to remain where it has always been (just outside the fish room). The fishroom has nearly trippled in size (which is AWESOME FOR ME!!!!) and everything is going to be in a centralized location. Best of all....... The basement is finally being transformed into the mancave that I have ALWAYS wanted. I am in the process of doing a bit of research on the best bang for the buck HD Projector (as I have a 10'x8' wall that I can utilize for watching t.v. abilities) *so if anyone has an recommendations in the under $700 range new or used I'd be interested to hear any input*

Anyhow, here are some pics to look at. Hopefully you are as interested to see what I'm currently doing as I am setting the little bugger up.

Jason

Here they are seeing I STILL can't get pics to upload. Anyone got a good picture reducer software to make it so I can just direct link the pics again?

Wow...wow....wow...
so no more tank upstairs??? You'll make Jen & the little guy trek downstairs everytime they want to see you? Will food be delivered to the basement suite?
Floor looks fantastic...but still awaiting on the kitchen cabinets picture! I hope you are at the end of your coral troubles and in for a whole new perspective on the good end of the hobby!

floors look great--and the tank setup will be nice as well--upstairs tank??? Basement tanks seem nice if you have a "living area" down there--have to teach that little guy to crawl downstair backwards!!!

? so is your fish room behind the tank now? that is what the pix look like but just wanted to check-similar to what Cary had going on? That is very neat...wish we could do an "in wall" but brick house...no basement...not gonna happen!

Actually, the setup is very similar to what Brian had at his house before he had to sell it to Scott (220 gallon setup). The only thing that is different from what Cary has is that my fishroom is wayyyyyyyyyy larger than his and I don't have a freak'n sweet bar infront of the tank.

As far as the upstairs goes... The only reason that I decided not to put it back up there was just because we spent so much to have the floors done that I did not want to chance ruining them with salt spills and such that I opted for option number two which meant getting going on the basement and my man cave...

Now, with that said yes the cabinets are fully in.... I've still yet to put the crown moulding on and no base trim because we have yet to put a new floor into the kitchen (base trim obviously gets installed after the flooring). But, here are some pics of that seeing I was pretty boneheaded not to post them up sooner. Heck it's been done for a month or two so might as well FINALLY get a picture for everyone to see lol.

I will add pictures to here.

I think you should tear it down and start over! We want the 12 foot tank!

Looks good! I'm all about the 'mancave' as well!
