a catastofic event..........
Well tonight when I got home from the meeting I had took my Girl friend to the Freighthouse for a drink (love me whiskey). When I got home there was about 4 gallons of water on the floor. hhhhmmmmmmmmmm I thought. Is it the skimmer driving too hard? Is my overflow clogged? What could have done this? No......the tank has a good old fashion genuine leak. I'm so screwed. I put everything in a tote and started taking apart my tank. Everything was going to sit in that tote for a while but I remembered that I had a 29 that is just finished cycling. It is a good thing I never tore down the 29 gal. I have no lighting for the sps,(which is the majority of the tank) but I figure they will be good for a few days. I have no experience with sealing a tank so I might have to buy a new one. I have no Idea where the leak is. Its not from the bulkheads, its from the glass seal. The tank has been setup for over 3 months, and NOW a leak. Its total bs.
If I have to order a new tank it might be a little while, and if anybody is interested in helping me house a couple life forms for a while I would be most appreciated, and will give frags for the trouble. This totally sucks and I am so POed, so let me know if you can help, cause I'm pretty sure I will need to order a new one.
Ya
Jake

Thanks Casey. Everything seems to be doing alright in the 29 right now. I havent seen my pom pom crab or my black barred convict goby yet but they are good hiders. I might have to take my lights out of the canopy they are in and move them to the other tank for a few days for the sps.

Jake, that sucks man I have that 58 gallon not being used right now. It's not reef ready so you would have to drill it but that is not too hard. Let me know.

My q-tank is setup and could house fish, inverts, and/ or low light corals since it only has a standard light fixture over it, but it's a shallow tank. I've never used copper in it so it shouldn't harm any critters or corals.
Otherwise, I'm sure I could find some places to put some more light demanding corals in my main tank for you for awhile.
I get off of work at 5 and should be able to help out anytime after that.
Let me know.

I think I have everything out of control now. I have all my corals on the 29 with a 150w MH so the corals should be fine. I dont think the fish even noticed the difference. half of my live rock is in a tote so I might as sell cook that for the time being.
Josh I might just order a new tank so that I can have the piece of mind that its new and shouldn't have any problems. Kinda like that starfire glass, black back, and the center overflow anyway. If I decide not to order a new tank maybe we can just tech the hell out of yours. Drill like six holes, overflow, CLS, everything. Just go mad crazy on that thing. ha

Jake, if you need I can get my yellow tang out of my 70 and your stuff could completely use that tank. I have another tank that I can link into my system to keep your rock alive. As you know I have the plumbing ability to make just about anything work lol. It's just an option if you need a place to keep everything in one shot.

Hey Aaron I think its going to be fine now. Im thinking of getting another 58RR Oceanic. But, it is a good time for an upgrade....... Glass cages has a tank that is 36-24-25". Still 3 foot long, little larger footprint in depth. it would be a 98 gal RR and would cost about the same amount of $ and an extra 96 for shipping. might be worth it.

not sure yet. Josh has been nice enough to offer the use of his 58gal. which would be nice couse I could save up a bit and then maybe start something bigger. I really had no problem with the 58 (infact I loved it) untill it leaked. It would be a great time for an upgrade but I cant, really, not yet. Im shooting for the end of summer. But it might be more like this winter. who knows. Ill keep you all posted.
If I get that tank from Josh, There might be a cool short Rebuild thread!
