48" MH Fixture For Sale

Since my T5's are well underway on the tank and I need to clean out some clutter, I've finally gotten around to posting my old MH fixture for sale.

The fixture is an AquaMedic Spacelight fixture. 48" long with two double-ended 250w bulbs and one central 150w DE bulb. The ballasts are internal, so there's no need to worry about finding a place to put the ballasts and such. The fixture doesn't come with the complete hanging kit, but you can probably buy that online. All that is needed, though, is braided wire of the right size. So if you find braided wire of the right size (can't be hard), it'll fit right into the wire-holding devices that the fixture comes with and then you can hang it. It's pretty heavy, though, so finding a way to set it on something is probably the safer option.

Fixture comes with two 14K Phoenix bulbs and one 150w 20K XM bulb. All of the bulbs are just barely over a year old, and were on for ten hours per day. The bulbs could be changed, if you want, though the bulb life of the Phoenix can exceed a year, according to:

http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2007-04/ac/index.php

I bought this fixture used a year ago for $300 and had to clean it up and buy new bulbs for it. The bulbs in it right now are still good for a few more months, and it's in better shape now than when I bought it. I'm asking $200 for it. I don't want to deal with shipping this thing, since it's heavy and 48" long. Hopefully one of you guys/gals out there in the LaCrosse or Eau Claire area is interested in this fixture. It grew sps really well in my 75gal, and it's priced to move. I'm not trying to make a lot of money on this; I just want it out of my basement and on someone else's tank where it can do some good. I've seen other used Spacelight fixtures this size priced at $400 or $500. If you need a 48" lighting fixture, here's your chance for a heck of a deal.

Thanks for reading,
Joe

That's a darn nice light fixture. Only drawback I see to it is no PC lighting other than the Halides. If I had a 4' tank I would be all over it. The only 4' tank I have though is just my sump. If it wouldn't be a hastle to keep my equipment cool I would just put my corals into the sump and kill the idea of the frag tank lol. (I would just have a "frag sump").

Good/great price on that fixture though someone will definately jump on that Joe.

Yep. Since I want to keep this local to avoid shipping hassles, I'm willing to let it go for less than I'd be asking on Reef Central or anywhere else. Brand new I think this thing retailed somewhere around $1000. Built in Germany = Amazing Quality (and heavier than hell...)

FYI everyone. If anyone wants the unit, I can pick it up for you the next time I go up to EC so you won't need to worry about getting up there to pick it up if Joe doesn't make it down to the meeting. The price looks great to me, but I don't have a 4' tank.

Thanks, Brian. I'm hoping to make it to the meeting, but it's not for sure yet, as one of the weekends I'll be out of town.
