Thanks for the complements. I am excited. I think I am most excited about having a sink with Hot and Cold water. I am certain my wife will love me not cleaning my skimmer in her sink. The floor drain is awesome too. My last system had some design flaws and a bulkhead would break and flood my basement. I am planning on having a VERY nice bar and theater area and can't afford for that to happen here.
My sump, I believe, will be in this week. it is a 500 gal tank that is made from 1" acrylic. I am certain it will take a lot of people to move into position. I am also goin to have a 250 gal tank that I will use for water changes. I am only planning on changing 100 gal a month but if I ever need to do a massive change I can.
Once I get the sump I will begin to layout the room. I am leaning towards putting a lot of the plumbing behind the sheetrock. I figure once it is in it wont leak, but it will be a lot easire to have it infront of the sheetrock.
It is going to be AWESOME when my sump arives.

you could make nice removable pannels to hide plumbing.

500 gal monster sump gets in tomorrow. Also, I will get all the old gear cleaned up so I can start laying out the new system and begin to plumb the sump room.
I have a ton of gear, Huge skimmer, Dual UV lights, calc reactor and Kalk reactor, chiller, monitors and controllers... Once I get everything plumbed and all the electrical done it will be time to drywall and paint it with the epoxy paint so I can clean the walls really well when i need to.

Pipe conversion and flow rate
If I converted the two 1" overflows for my 210 into a single 2" pipe, will it restrict the flow rate? It will be about a 35’ run from my tank to the sump so it will be easier to run one line as apposed to two and I would rather have one drop line into my sump. Also, it will be cheaper to run one 2” than 2-1”

A 2" tube has a larger area than 2 1". Forget the math but belive it is 3.14 x (1/2 Radius)Squared
So 2 1" = 3.14 x .5x.5 = .785 x 2( 2 1" tubes) = 1.57 square inches of area.
One 2" tube = 3.14 x 1x1 = 3.14 square inches

Water Return For My System
I am laying out everything and thinking about the return for my system. My tank is 210AGA and will be 14' above the pump and 40' accross a room. In my other system I had a Sequence 5000 but I did not need to go accross 40 ft to get to my tank. Here are the specs:
| Model | 5000SEQ20 | | Horsepower | 1/4 | | Max Head | 22 Feet | | Flow* | 4000 GPH @ 10' | | In | 1.5" FPT | | Out | 1.5" FPT | | Watts | 333 | | Pressure Rated | No
| | Drive | Direct |
Do you think I need two of these pumps running? My idea would be to use one to gravity feed my skimmer and the other to gravity feed my chiller while pumping to my tank.

The large green area, to the left, is where my sump will set and the pumps and skimmer will set where they are. To the far right above the plumbing for the "floor drain sump pump" is where I will set my chiller. All the plumbing for the skimmer and chiller will be behind the sheetrock so it can not be seen. Above the chiller is a humidity controlled vent the is vented to the outside of the home.
I will test all the plumbing with test caps to ensure there are no leaks prior to sheetrocking the walls.

Here are a couple pictures of my HUGE (4'x8'x2') and awesome sump. There is also a water change tank that is 4'x4'x2'

i am a bit confused on what you mean by gravity feed. if all you want is a pump to go through the chiller i would make this a CLS. that way gravity/heat pressue is a non-issue. you are only dealing with the head pressure created by friction in the pipes and not vertical distances.
what size are your overflows again? this is what i would match the pump to. you will need a pump that does not mind high head pressure. the Sequence listed would not be a good choice. i will check around and see what i can come up with. what size pipe are you thinking of running for the drain and return for the sump? i went with 2" for both of my 45' runs.

Maybe gravity is not the right word, but what I mean is that most of the water will be returned to the tank, but some of it will run through the skimmer or chiller. I thought about putting one pump to run a bunch of different things (skimmer, calc reactor, chiller,...), but if that pump ever goes out I am screwed and I dont want the problems of
My tank is an AGA 210 so I assume that it is a 1" overflow and a 3/4" return.

Whew, this is a busy thread. I guess it is more of a documentry of my build than a "Hey I need help", thread.
Today I moved the sumps into the sump room. There are a few uneven places in my slab. I am going to need to put a 1" foam pad under the tank and I think I will level it's self out. I initially was going to plumb everything then sheetrock, move the sumps in and start up the system. Last night I changed my mind. I am going to set everything up, fresh water test and clean everything really good, tear it down, sheetrock, paint... and re-assemble.

I framed up a couple walls and have started the plumbing of my room. Since most of my plumbing will be behind the wall, I am trying to figure out how I want the PVC to enter and exit the wall. Any suggestions?
Clamover... I appreciate your encouragement. Do you have a thread for your build?

This will be tough to say with out really being there to see it in person.
Good Luck though!
