Cath's upgrade from a 29 to 40

I may as well jump in, too. After the Tom vs cath cabinet making/ refinishing contest last year http://thereeftank.com/forums/showthread.php?t=68323 I haven't done diddly sqat. So here's my chance to get back on the upgrade mission.

The width of the new-to-me 40 is the same as my 29, so I can use the same lights. (Current 2 x 65W).

Sump - not sure on the size yet.

Geoff-made skimmer
Maybe a spray bar

Softies, SPS
Get rid of the agressive Ricordea yuma ( who wants it?)
Good cleanup crew
Keep tomato clown (Ms Stripe) and star fish (Ringo, of course)

DSB - the current one is a mess, though..
More LR

That's a basic plan to get me going. I'll flesh it with more particulars later this week.

Hmm...I may rethink the DSB, Doug. I'm not all that thrilled with it. Nothing but trouble with the tank since I went DSB. what did I just say? Better go check out those threads in Think Tank. Noooo...not going BB.

But could I change back to oolite and cc without going through another cycle?

You could always go SSB (1 inch or so of oothlic sand) but then you would have to syphon it regularly.

I'm in the planning process of what corals to keep and what to donate to someone else's tank. The ricordea own the left side of the tank. Not only did they take out 2 colt corals, but also hair algae (so they do have some social redeeming value ) But I also like the frog spawn and trumpet coral (I call it Wynton).

When I take out the ricordea, there will be a huge vacancy in the tank. So I'm not sure what I'll put there.

Where did those 28 days of February go??

Oh well, here's the lonely tank on the stand that I refinished in that contest with you-know-who last March. It is waiting for me to get my butt in gear to clean up my current 29, and a few other details so that I transfer from the old to the new. The color is off somewhat - the walls are teal green, but the inside of the cabinet is white.
