September has been the month to deal with unexplained water on the floor around the tank. The odd thing is that it comes and goes. After I had lots of help trying to figure it out. http://thereeftank.com/forums/showthread.php?t=105845

The current status is that is not leaking. The surge theory seems to be the winner. As soon as Tom and I can get our schedules together, Tom will be the leader, and I will be the unskilled laborer on fixing the overflow problem.

Thanks to all who helped!

Question

well dagnabbit! One of the ballasts went out in my lighting. And since I bought the light fixture from Jenn, she's knows what kind to send me. I'll take the light to the maintenance guys at work and they can replace the ballast in no time.

Question is...I'm running only the actinic light. How do I take a photo with just that one fired up? I never use a flash when I take a photo of my tank.

That really stinks Cath! I might suggest that you plug your 10K bulb into your working ballast for now to give your corals a little more light until you get your new ballast in. It will look bad,.. but about double the light to the corals. I'm in the same boat as you,.. I've lost 3 ballasts on my planted tank so far,.. I am definitally running out of spairs.

Sorry,.. I can't help on picture taking,.. I've never been able to do that myself.

I'm glad the tank's holding water for you

Thanks for the suggestion, Whiskey. I thought the 10K alone would be too harsh for the corals. But what do I know?

Thanks, Amy. The new ballast arrived, and I'm taking the light fixture to work today to get the maintenance men to replace it.

Lights are working again, though it took some fiddling around with it at first. Don't know what the problem was, but the daylight bulb didn't work when I got it home, even though it worked after the new ballast had been installed. Go figure.
