got the clowns and the wrasse today. Hubby said they are looking good, and as long as the hawkfish leaves the wrasse alone, everyone should be fine

Clowns are no longer with us. They were too small and I believe they took a ride on the drain pipe express. The wrasse is still doing good though, and the Blonde Naso is back home, where he should be, ruling the tank. I will try to snap a pic of him later if I get a few minutes and he is cooperative (he is usually a camera hog so it shouldn't be too hard)

sorry no updated pics yet, I will try to get some up tomorrow. We had our local club meeting over the weekend, and everything is starting to look good. This week I am going to try to get the CArx on it, and maybe the kalkrx also (although, so far we have had no ph issues). I am also working on a deal for a chiller, as I cant seem to get the temp below 80, and it peaks around 83.5, which is a little warm for comfort considering that summer hasn't even started yet. I figure if I get a chiller on this bad boy I should be able to keep the temp rock solid without having to worry about the lighting cycle.

How important is keeping the temp "rock solid" for you? I used to run a chiller, and over the last year I've been able to remove it. Essentially, I started relying on evaporative cooling instead, and it easily keeps my tank around 78.5 degrees (from my AC3, high temp was 78.8 and low temp was 78.0 over the last 9 days). I have a good amount of hardware heating the water (mag 18 return, mag 7 skimmer pump, 6 T5 overdriven bulbs on 80 gallons of water in enclosed canopy), and the clip-on fan I bought takes care of any excess heating. Without the fan, my tank hits about 83-84 degrees. I just couldnt justify using the chiller after getting some of my electric bills last summer. It's just now getting hot here in Houston, but even if the tank gets to 80 or 81 degrees, that's really not a problem to me. Of course you'd want an auto top-off system and good air changeover around the tank, but I've found its just as effective in my application. Good luck!

yeah, the tank is sealed up pretty tight, and evap in the winter in minnesota means your house gets destroyed. I would rather pay the electric bill than have to deal with replacing walls and a roof in my house.

Ah, thats too bad. Of course, when I'm fighting to keep the house cool with the AC, adding the chiller is a little too much to the electric bill.

yeah, I hear ya. Luckily there is only a month or so when it gets really hot up here. The rest of the time it is bearable. Its funny how different climates outside produce different problems (as far as reefing) inside.

got up yesterday morning and all of the tangs had ich, the kole was the worst, the powder blue was bad, and the naso just had a litte bit. So I figured I should put the UV on and see if it really worked. 1 day later, the fish looked about 90% better. Jeez am I happy I kept that thing...
