Boy that sounds familiar!! And to make it worse I've discovered my 'lectric bills have doubled and water costs have gone through the roof, with only a 55 gallon!!! Good thing I'm faculty and earning millions.....(!) Or perhaps not...
tank looks beautiful BTW. I'm trying to convince Penn they need to organise a student group to put together a giant tank in the auditorium of their brand new building.

Yep. My father-in-law's a minister and I thought that was a nice touch. It came that way and I think I'm going to leave it. I have seahorse handles on the stand and starfish on the hood. Gorgeous huh? The whole setup was $1300 (included all the lights/ballast/bulbs, etc).
-3 400Watt MH with 10000K bulbs
-2 HO T5 (5 feet long)

Well let's add in some more costs:
$60 sump
$120 pump for sump (quiet one 1500 gph, premium was out of the mag 1800s)
Total: $1870. Yikes.

Since this thread was started so close to the deadline, and because starting late does not give Michelle an advantage, we've decided that it's okay for her to compeate, it's all for fun anyway .
Welcome to the Contest!

Welcome to the contest indeed, even though I'm going to destroy you!! (I actually don't really understand how we're competing, but for now I'm going to pretend that I'm winning).
My tank is a 150 also, but 60x24x24. Yours appears to be 72x18x29? Is that right? Looks great though, and you're already much further along than myself. What do you plan on keeping in the tank?

SPS, LPS, softies (mixed reef) and fish. I love variety. Yes you are spot on with my numbers. I plan on moving as much as I have and then addin on in time. Hopefully I don't lose much in the move. I have to move this tank a second time when I get a house (before xmas).

Moving tanks is the pits. I moved twice in about 6 months, and it took a toll on my system. But, then again, I had pretty bad husbandry habits, so maybe I shouldnt blame the move!
I do like your stand and canopy, and I'm looking forward to see more!

PLAN FOR TANK:
The plan for my new tank is to upgrade my current 75 gallon to the 150, move my 75 6 hours north east into the 150, and move it again when my husband and I get our house.
Mixed reef tank with SPS, softies, BTAs, fish, and add some LPS. I would like to add a Caclium reactor, autotop off, litermeter doser, and refugium in the sump. I would ideally like to add a wavemaker and better pumps for water flow then what I currently have (maxi-jet).
Glass drilled tank (150 gallon)
Oak stand and canopy. Going to stain the wood a dark cherry color and paint the seahorse/starfish handles copper.
Lights: 3 400W MH, 2 high output T5's, 10000K bulbs in the MH's.
Sump/fuge: 40 gallon, euroreef protein skimmer, quiet one 1500 pump, gamma ray 15W UV sterilizer, 200W heater
Reef tank controller from premium aquatics (can turn lights on/off and watch parameters from computer)
Inhabitants from 75 gallon:
SPS (orange montipora plate, green montipora plate)
candy cane corals
two BTA's
red sea and pulsing xenia
button polyps
star polyps
hammer coral
frogspawn
purple tube anemone
7" derasa clam
5" crocea clam
many zoas
toadstool
devil's hand
green kenya tree
black sun coral
Fish:
Yellow tang
Gold stripe maroon clown
Lawnmower blenny
Female green mandarin

How long until it's ready for all my stuff? I was thinking April/May. (I have two BTA's, etc). Going to treck all my water up there....just not sure how soon is too soon. I'm assuming I have to wait until the new one cycles out....

Hmm, kind of hard to answer. If you had re-used your rock and sand from the other tank, I think a straight swap could have been done (then add more sand/rock slowly over time as needed). It looks to me that you're using some cured live rock, and when you add the LR from the old tank you're also adding all the good thats with it. You may not see a huge cycle (or any, if there is no die-off), but thats hard to know. Anyone else have ideas?
