ok time to redo the 24
Yeah it has only been setup a couple of weeks but there are some things that need to be done. So it is time to tear it apart and start over.

Yes and no. I got a new idea that I have been thinking about for a couple of weeks. Kind of a pseudo substrate but not like you would think. Basically I am going to make tiles that are made out of a mixture of portland cement and aragonite. They will be about 2"x2" and will be used on the bottom. Then zoas will be mounted to them and will act as a propagation area. When a tile fills up with zoas I take it out and add a blank tile to continue with the propagation.

What about tiles, upside down, with glue and sand? I've never tried it, but it might be simpler.

What fun is it if it is simple?

I am also in the process of designing a skimmer for the tank. I am not happy with anything currently on the market right now so I am going to have reefmania make the design I have in mind. Of course it will be a needlewheel pump that will power the skimmer. I bought a small gen-x needlewheel pump for about $20. Seems to chop the bubbles up pretty well for a small pump.

RW I want to see the results of that skimmer. I have yet to find a decent nano skimmer on the market as well. I reluctantly bought a current nano fission and it bites. I definately think there is a strong market out there for a good nano skimmer.

Yeah the market for skimmers for nanos are well should I say less than desireable. Most seem to be finicky at best. The main thing IMO is the pump. The pump I am planning on using seems to be doing well in the five gallon pail of saltwater that I am testing it in. It is prodcuing skimmate on the top of the water in the pail, So I think that with the right body it should work just fine. Just trying to determine if I am going to have it made as a recirc needlewheel or just a needle wheel.

Well with the holidays, daughters birthday, end of year for work , and then preparing for a IRS audit , time has been a little on the short side. I just did a water change a week ago which was the first one in a month. I will get some pictures when time allows. I think I have a good track record for documenting tank builds . The nice thing is that this will take about two days instead of 3 months
