Well the owner of reefmania happens to be not only a good friend of mine but my neighbor so I have spent many hours watching him work and figured I would give it a try myself to see if I could do it. No where near his caliber of craftmanship but it is my first time working with acrylic so I am so far happy with it.

Well if you look at my last build I have the tendancy to go all out with stuff and get a little over board at times.

The rest of the parts for the skimmer are in and hope to get it finsihed by the weekend and get stuff transferred over after that. Going to try and get as much done tommorrow but the Wings are on so that might not happen.

You may as well just built the tank too while you were at it.

Thanks, I actually considered makeing the tank too after doing the sump. As far as production quality that is a far strech IMO however I must say I am happier than a pig in poop on how it turned out. It was a tight fit in the sump and is producing bubbles like crazy right now. After it breaks in, in a couple of days should show if it will actually skim. Going to transfer ten gallons out of the old 24 into the 20 and take 10 from the 20 gallon and put it into the 24 gallon tank and then transfer in the next day or so.

That is what I was going to do orginally until I saw some of my sps in the 24. They look like garbage. A purple pillow is in bad shape along with my green mille and the purple polyped digita. So I decided to swap 10 gallons between tanks as a water change and give the skimmer something to play with as the water in the 24 is pretty nasty. I am hopeing to save them but they look awful and I am quite embarrassed to say the least as that tank is just a disgrace right now. Which was my main motivation of going back to what works for me.

I will in fact I might just transfer the whole thing tonight and be done with it. The corals are pretty stressed right now however the lower nutrient water might break them at this point but also might save them.

It has to be from a high level of PO4 as it seems to be coming from the base up. Not nesc a STN or RTM but more of a bleaching from the bottom up. I am raising the temp in the 20 gallon and if it gets within 2-3 degrees of the 24 I will start transfering in the next hour.
