Ok to make this more legit we will start from scratch.

Guess what the aquapod is coming down Man I am getting as bad as Epidemic and Oyam now. Just can't stand the curved glass, no sump, no skimmer, and a DSB and well, you all know my thoughts on that whole dealio. So the tank that will replace it has had just about every med in it that you can think of. Now the main objective of this tank is to do a little myth busting. The myth being that you can never ever use a tank that has been treated with meds again as a tank. Well I bet that is not the case. I have spent the last couple of days reasearching trying to find one instance where someone used a tank that had been treated with meds and then killed everything. Found instanced where the rock and substrate had bound up copper in it and leached it back but never a tanks silicone leaching it out. I am nukeing the tank in vinegar right now and will scrub it down real well and we shall see what happens. I will test the tank in a couple of days after I test fill it with water to see if I get any copper readings out of it.

So it is a standard AGA 20 gallon high. I have a stand and am going to have the tank drilled so there can be a sump and I still am undecided on what I am going to do for a skimmer. Probally have Bob whip up some really cool contraption. Tank will be lit with a orbit 150w hqi with a 14k phoenix bulb. Sump will be a old five gallon tank that I have in the garage and am going to set up a simple auto topoff with a kent float valve to replace evap water with kalk.

Ok here are some pics tims rotties and all you other Bozo's

What a difference a 100 gallons makes

And the stand it will sit on.

For a return pump I might use the panworld 50px that I still have from the 120. I really liked that pump and it was extremelly quiet. Working on designs for the skimmer right now and will probally have a 4" body with a ocean runner 2550/2700 or a sedra 2500. Will be fed from the overflow. Still planning on doing the faux substrate/aragonite tiles but it will definatelly not have a stinky sand bed in it.

BB... awwww yea... i assume you are not happy with the remora then... i have noticed a few problems but overall it is the best on the market so far. I am still making up my mind on the skimmer i want to use for my setup. please share when you get it figured out.

I had a remora/urchin in the past and was less than pleased when compared to the recirc needlewheel. The new skimmer is going to have a 4" body and use either a sedra 2500 or a ocean runner 2700 with the meshwheel modification done to it. The skimmer will be fed off the overflow.

The tank and sump were drilled last night by a local club member and turned out well. Just need to get the overflow and the skimmer built and can start with assembly and the aragonite tiles.

Get anythig in er yet? I am interested in the myth being busted or not. All I know in the sea lab I was at this summer they were concerned with formilin being used on glass that larve were going into, but beyond that i duno.

No nothing in it yet. I am still trying to find the time to get everything done. I decided to try my hand at some DIY with this to make it all the more interesting. I built the overflow last week and got that installed. Also started cutting the flanges for the custom needlewheel skimmer I am making for it. Here are some pics of the overflow.

It is made of 3/8" thick acrylic (way overkill) It is attached to the glass with silicone.

The skimmer is going to be 5" diameter with a 2.5" neck powered by a sedra 2500 with the mesh mod. The sump I hope to get started on within the week.

I used a router and a router table. Used a 1/4 inch flush trim bit and mounted a piece of 1"x1" pine on the acrylic as the stop and then adjusted the fence to space them out.
