Bio Cube 29 on its way!!

Hello all,

Well I have been wanting to start another tank ever since I moved from Wisconsin to Maryland and had to tear down the 150 gallon I had. So here it is, living the condo life I have decided to do a Bio Cube 29 Gallon as my first Nano.

We did the RODI Install over the weekend, and the tank came today. I had it shipped from my LFS as I have a huge credit for turning all my old stuff in when I tore down the 150. Unfortunatly the tank didnt survive the trip and was smashed when it arrived. But i opened it with the UPS guy and had it insured for a lot. So i just went out and bought another right away. Now I have spare parts and will also be getting a check from UPS.

So here are some pictures and i will keep you posted on my progress. I unfortunatly will be using the stock stand and cant get to creative on some things as I live in a condo and MISS my garage and wet room very much, but ill make due. Please feel free to provide any input as I love to learn and share ideas.

Ok I cant decide to do live sand, or Bare Bottom. Any suggestions? I am leaning towards LS. Oh yeah, my stock will be 1 bullhead....will that be pretty? Just kiddin, softies and 1-3 small fish, and a bunch of inverts. I think I want to get a pair of black clowns. I really like them. No specifics on the stock yet. Just taking things as they go.

For just softies the Live sand should be fine I only ran into trouble in my nano when I got sun corals and a gorgonian that needed supplimental feeding and the sand bed turned into a cyano bed

I have a quick question to anyone out there. I put water in my cube and started the filter system and it works fine but doest seem to flow well. Like the pump is putting water into the tank to fast and not enough is coming down. Is there some kind of modification for this. I think I see a way but dont want to cut away and do permanent damage.

Thanks
Mike

Bigger return hose or slow the pump down.

Seems to be working a bit better now. We'll see what happens. Im not having a good day and everything I touch seems to break so I am going to post my pics and go to bed before my computer shuts down or something. I lost my entire website tonight and have no clue where it went, Crazy!! Any way I have got all my water in place and couldnt resist the rock at the LFS, so I got 2 pieces. Installed my wireless thermometer, and pinpoint ph monitor and put about 30 lbs of sand in the tank. It is real couldy right now and should clear up in a while. Here are some pics and ill tackle more tomorrow. Gotta put this poopy day behind.

Looks nice!! , The thing I have notice on the nano Tanks , Aqua pods is the filter seem to skim the surface better if You keep the water level alittle lower and then it can skim the surface water. Not built up a film. Is it the same on the Bio Cube?

Is this the other BC cube You asked about

Still kinda new to the Nano world here and trying to figure out all the tweeks on the BC 29. I am noticing a flow issue but then again I have a skimmer that I am trying to work out in the middle chamber and it requires certain levels of water. I have to wait now as one of the seams on the baffle in the skimmer wasnt sealed, so Kyle is sending me another body for my skimmer. I have shut down the skimmer for now.

I have to say that the skimmer is a quality product and seems to work great, I do understand that sometimes things slip through and may get missed. Kyle at Sapphire Aquatics was on top of it in a heartbeat and offered alot of help via email. thumbs up on Sapphire.

I will let you know as time goes on with my BC VWD.

Hood surgery to 4.36 setup

Here are some pictures of the Hood transformation to the 4.36. Did a great job lighting up the tank. I think with the right flow could possibly do acros. Dont think I will though. the whole process took me about 2 hours and had to do some minor changes from how the kit came.

Pictures!!

Ok here are some picture of the new buys today. The clown has been there for a few days. He is the king of the tank. The new guys are adjusting still to the new. I thought the Maroon would be little more agressive towards the others but he seems to be more of the wuss than anybody.
