Well Im still fighting red slim on the sand on my Nano tank. All parameters are in line

Any ideas

This has been going on for 6 weeks
I use a turkey baster to suck as much out as I can daily.

15 to 20% water change weekly.


All I can say is this little tank is 10 times more work than my 155 bow when it was a reef…


Am I better turning it to a bare bottom ?

Oh I have no skimmer on the tank either.

I think the red is part of the cycling process just ride it out. Unless it has bubles forming in it, then it is cyano.

Just a friendly update on my nano


I have added a nano skimmer, it seems to make no difference at least to me.
Also I have hit a major growth sprit. All my corals seem to be growing like weeds.

I’m also seeing a hair algae out break.

I feed 3 times a week for the fish mysis,flake ETC.

I also have a sachem bag deal to remove phosphates.
Water change 20% every 2 weeks.

Also my leathers seem to be on coralroids. I would say they have doubled in the last month

Everything is going good nothing has died. But I am still fighting hair algae. We the contest is over I have a rainbow lifeguard filter I am going to fill with carbon and phosban and run the heck out of it to break the hair cycle. Good luck to every one….
