PH Probe out of water?

I just installed a PH probe on my aqua Jr and put the probe in my sump, and then got to thinking that when I do a water change I drain my 30 gal sump completely. How long can a PH probe be out of water before it is damaged? It would be out of water for 15 to 20 minutes

If it dries out, that's bad news. I'd stick it in a cup of water or other portion of the sump if you can.

I thought it might be to long to be out of water. That is a good ideal about the cup of water I didnt think of that.

If it dries out ,it's no good.if you take it out the cap has cotton in it to keep moist.

Change the location of the probe. I wound up placing mine in the overflow where the water level is fairly constant. It only fluctuates about 1" when the pumps are off. Then there would be no reason to worry about it
