Reef Tek Calcium Reactor

My Reeftek Reactor effluent output is extremly warm. So much so it has increased my tank temp 2 degrees. Just put this thing back into action again after 8 months disconnected from the tank and I do not remember having any temp problems with it. The recirculating pump is a Mag 5.
Any ideas? Mag 5 on the way out?

Mags are known for heat issues but I thought that was on in sump application.....
but it's really the only thing that could be tranfering heat to the water

Do you have another pump you could try for a while?

could be the mag, but at the drip rate of the effluent I'd be surprised if that's heating the water that much. but, if you can swap out the pumps you'll figure it out.

Yeah I'm running about 70 drips/sec and I dont think even if the effluent was 100degrees it would make a dent in the tank temp....

Now that Pan World pump on the reactor is VERY warm but not transfering to the effluent at all

I thought the ReefTek reactors came with a Mag 2...in either case, you could try an Eheim pump. They are far more energy efficient, and transfer less heat also.
