Calcium reactor is better as it will take care of itself longer and with it maintaining the calcium the alk will fall right into line as well. No PH issues either. I have a used knop c reactor and I love it.

most use both. the Ca reactor tends to drive the pH lower. the kalk reactor helps counteract that.

depending on the Ca load in the system a kalk reactor may be enough. if not than a Ca reactor would be a good addition.

So for the SPS only tank both is a good idea and for the LPS only tank the kalk reactor should be fine.

Is that a correct assumption??

I'm getting a PM Kalk reactor. How does it work as a auto topoff system? I want to be able to hook it up to a topoff and forget about it.

Fly, I've been using a PM calcium reactor on my tank. I think needing a Kalk reactor on top of that is debatable. I've heard both sides but so far I've never used one. I don't seem to have any PH issues and the thing is nearly maintenance free and can run for months without doing anything to it. It's setup to be used with a controller but I've never used one either. Just spent a few weeks dialing it in and left it there.
