I"m sure someone else will have a better suggestion in terms of brands, but don't think you're off the hook for dosing! hah I thought I was... I'm still dosing some kalk now sometime.

DIY Reactors are going to be like DIY skimmers. You will have to tinker with it but you can make a DIY Reactor that is just as efficient (maybe even more efficient) than an off the shelf unit.

My Reef Creations... you can't really beat the price for one of their reactors... next choice would be Korallin, Geo, Tunze... really any of the major brands. The Korallins are built like a tank, as are the MRC's... I can't speak as to any of the others, but those two i can attest to..

whatever brand you decide to get, much like skimmers they seem to work better if you get a size or 2 up from the recommended size.

But if automation is all your looking for, then maybe a pair of dosing pumps would be a good alternative.

I have to admit that the only reactor I would run is a GEO. It is absolutely set it and forget it... I ran a Deltec and an off-brand that is no longer around and hated them. Otherwise I think the koralin and a couple other brands are right up there, but I really like the GEO
