When can I remove the sponge of the Skimmer ?

Hello0o0 Im having problems lately with nitrates. I think they can be because of many things one that came to my mind is the sponge of the skimmer. I have a coralife skimmer and the skimmer have being running for 2 month and a half.

Can I take out the sponge that is place on the bubble trap box or that will cause problems ?

You need to clean it weekly.

Is the skimmer in your sump or is it hanging off the back of your display tank? If it's in the sump and you have a bubble trap, get rid of the sponge. If you need the sponge to trap bubbles, then wash it or rinse it out really well at least once a week.
