Sump... Bio balls or Micron Bags

Just about got it hooked up, what do you run in your sump. I used bio balls for my FW, but not sure what will be more benificial for the tank. Should I use bio balls or the Micron bags? Why?

I also have the option to have a half and half...

Thanks for the help!

If you are planning to run a reef I would put nothing but a good skimmer in your sump. I hope this helps

Nothing in the sump... Live rock and bioballs do one thing in a sump... catch detritus and create a nitrate factory. Live rock stays in the main tank, a filter sock in the sump (if you really feel you need one) but they need changing daily.. yes daily, otherwise they create nitrate issues as well. A good skimmer and the occasional sock and or canister filter for polishing and call it good..

Sounds good, the plan for now is a reef. I have about 125 lbs of live rock in there now, and it's abot 1-1 1/2 weeks from being cycled. Almost there. I guess just the protien skimmer sounds good. I just have to make sure to get the right one. I have a Fx5 on there also that I've been loading with carbon. I will post some pics soon.
