Question

Stupid question about RO???

OK, I’m having a little trouble wrapping my mind around this RO system business. I understand what it’s for, but… How is it set up in conjunction with the tank? I have a 180g tank, I’ve been looking on several web sites at RO systems. Most of them explain the output of water as XXX GPD (gallons per day). How do I start the tank? I assume I’m over looking something very simple here, and feel pretty stupid about it. If the system only puts out XXX amount of gallons a day, how do I start the tank? Do you just wait a day or 2 to fill it? Do you start the tank with “TAP WATER”, and hook the RO system to your tank? Or do you just spend a ridiculous amount of money buying water that has already gone through the RO process?

Most folks run RO into a holding tank or bottle, mix SW in a seperate tank and then add it to the aquarium. SOme folks start a tank with tap to cycle it. Whethor it hurts the tank is debatable.

Did I ever tell you about the time Brasky went hunting? Well anyway, Brasky decides he's gonna hunt down all four members of the Banana Splits. He stalks and kills every one of them with a machete. They all beg for their lives, except Fleagul.

Don't use tap water! Fill it up with water and add salt or do in buckets, plastic storage tank/barrel and add the salt there then add to tank.Which ever you prefer!
