Skimmers

Hi Everyone,

I'm new here...but looking for some advice on skimmers. I have an old Prizm on a 77g saltwater tank and I'm looking to upgrade. What would be the best skimmer out there but reasonably priced? Thanks for any words of wisdom.

IMO, the best skimmer for the money is a coralife super skimmer. Depending on what you have in the tank, I would go with either the 125 or 220 gallon model.

Hi and Thanks ....
I have a yellow Tang, Bicolour angel, Mandarinfish, Lawnmower (Banded Blenny), Scooter and Blood Shrimp (He's the family fav). Also a carpet anenome, lyobophilia( hasn't done much yet), a few chunks of mushrooms, and a leather. well I just checked and I don't have the clearance behind the tank to put in the coralife super skimmer. Any other skimmer suggestions?? The prizm is old old old and I never mastered regulating it properly.

Thanks for any advice.....

If you have a sump I would go with the ASM skimmer

Being a newbie to saltwater..I know nothing about sumps. I have two canister filters, the lame skimmer and a couple of powerheads. Is there a good site that explains sumps. (I really know nothing about them not even sure i know what they are)

Thanks

sumps are just an external volume of water. most people have sumps so they can get bigger skimmers and are able to hide a lot of the ugly equipment that go along with keeping a SW tank.

some people have thier tanks drilled for an overflow, while other people use hang on back overflows to get the water to the tank.
