Skimmer questions.

I'm setting up a 125g mixed reef. I will have a equipment room. So I have lots of space. I'm wondering what skimmer you all would suggest?

I'm open to DIY, with basic tools. If DIY what design and what pump? I also don't want to spend a lot of money.

If I buy new it would have to be $300 or less. I would rather DIY one though as its much more fun.

I should also mention that I have a 4' pice of 8" pvc i could use as the body. I just dont have a way to cap the bottom or to reduce the top.
