skimmer problem..no micro bubbles

it actually has little spurts of bubbles..not as small as they should be though..like the size of a blowing a straw in a glass of water

i have a Coralife skimmer that i recently moved to my sump and it worked fine then i moved some things around and it does not make any bubbles...So i took it out, made sure all the water was out of the air line and took the pump apart and cleaned it and ran it in hot water in my sink and still have no bubbles. The little beer can looking think that the air line plugs into -how important is that or can i just run a new air line to the above the water line.

i am leaving for a week this thursday so kinda wanna have it up an running.. any idea would be great

thanks
matt

Is this set up in fresh water for testing? If so thats the problem. Fresh wont make micro bubbles.

How deep of water is the skimmer sitting in? The pump looses it's ability to pull air efficiently as the water depth increases. Not knowing that exact skimmer, I'm guessing about 5-7" of water max.

if that isn't it, let us know and we'll go another route

Fresh water has a different surface tension and will not make micro bubbles. Try is in the sump with salt water and see how it does.

Ahhh. Yes, the water tension in fresh water won't facilitate micobubbles

i put a baffle in the sump that is 9inch so if i raise to pump up...it would only say be like 4inches below the water line and less air to push in..does that make sense that...tonight is not my night...my return pump just burnt out on me. lol
