Skimmer on BC29?

I've had my BioCube29 set up for about a month now. Everything working nicely. I've been reading a lot about skimmers, and have run across some people putting skimmers into the second chamber, instead of bioballs. Is this necessary, desirable, or just fun?

bioballs are not the greatest thing to have in a reef tank. they trap detritus and they also can increase your nitrate levels. not necessarily a bad thing, but something that we controll.

skimmers are the best filtration we have now. it immediately removes nutrients from the water column. anywhere you can put a skimmer is a great, expecially if the tank does not have one already.

I agree with Geoff and Bio balls are only good with Fish only tanks.
