i would get one as well. Whats your price range?? IMO a unit that was capable of 25GPD would be more then enough for your size tank. This also allows some more contact time between water and membrane so it might help with quality a bit more. You probably do not absolutely need a DI stage but i would recommend it. This will ensure your water is as close to 100% as can be. including DI i think a 4 stage unit would be fine.

also make sure your day lights are only running for 8 hrs average. Anything more then that is not necessary and probably is increasing the growth rate of your hair algae, among other issues.

ThHanks for the in put I have not looked into these things to know what my buget is, I did however learn the lights I had on , were very old and from what I have been told can be a great contributor to the hair alge problem, I got new lights,I have done a water change, scraped out the alge I could get at scrubbed a few rocks and the tank appears brighter, I have no fish stock in the tank as I was waiting for the alge to clear itself until learning what I have, the tanks has been running for over a year, it has about 50 lbs of marco rock and 25lbs of live rock, should it be able to support a few fish and will that help clear the H/A problem? Also when doing the water change I notice small white curving lines on the rock and on the damm of the tank sump? what are these?
