reef octopus bh-800s
I just got my new skimmer today but I'm new to salt water tanks and have no clue how to set it properly. Could anyone give me some good step by step instructions as the ones that came with the skimmer were dismal. Here is a picture of it.

pretty much just hang it on the back of the tank and I think you have to start a siphon on the intake tube (the pipe with the blue line sticking out the top) by sucking the air out of the pipe while the skimmer is on the back of the tank. You also need to adjust the height of the skimmer so that the surface skimming box is just at the current water level in your tank

Hey, thanks for your response! I'm not sure what to do with the airtube 1 and 2 though (the two clear/white tubes). I put the silencer on one of them but the other is just kinda pointing into nowhere.

the one you put the silencer on, does it go into the skimmer pump intake? If not, that is the one you need to put the silencer on. Where does the other line go?

If you look at the bottom of the skimmer, they both come from the same place... I don't know anything about this thing, sorry I can't more be more specific.
Also, should that blue sponge be where it is? I thought it was random placed...

I think the blue sponge is there for shipping purposes... Di the skimmer come with 2 silencers... maybe you hook the blue line up to one of the clear lines.. that would make the skimmer auto priming once you fill the body with water.

The blue sponge has two holes in it so i didnt know if they served a purpose? The silencer has another hole on it so I could route both white/clear airlines to it but wouldn't that defeat the purpose?

it has 2 holes, one for air intake and the other for the line that feeds the skimmer pump. I'm betting you plug the blue line into the other clear line

That's how I thought it should be setup. So I don't have to suck on the blue tube now? haha

Okay, good lol I didn't really want salt water in my mouth...
In the picture, is that where it should be once it's 'broken' in or should it be level? I'll be sure to raise it at first, thanks for the tip.

the cup level depends on a few factors, the more organics in your tank the higher you may need to raise your cup.
