Turns out its too big for the cut out behind my lighting fixture to sit on the back of my tank :[ It's going up for sale now... Anybody interested? It's brand new, never plugged in or used.

Is the light fixture just plastic on the back? You could just cut out a pices until it fits

Yeah, it is plastic but I can't off too much more before it gets close to the part the actual lighting fixture sits on :|

How about a pic of what you are dealing with to see if we can help resolve the issue before you sell it

I have one similar to yours, the octopus bh-2000. my silencer has 2 holes too, but I noticed that if you insert the tube one end is louder and the other quieter, so the other end is still open. The blue sponge I do not use I only use the black sponge (although I'll probably be getting rid of it soon b/c I don't see a point except for micro bubbles). I didn't have the siphon version so I'm not sure what the blue one is for. Usually for test and trial the best way is to just keep plugging it in (with the body full of water of course) and trial and error. good luck!

the metal or the plastic cut out...so the fixture not the canopy? I had to take the plastic part off the back of my canopy for my skimmer to work, sorry it didn't work out.
