Reef Octopus BH-2000 help pls..

Hi guys..I just got this skimmer up and running,it seems to be running well but I'm not real happy with the amount of bubbles the return in pouring into my tank..

Anyone know this skimmer and have any helpful tips to calm these bubbles down some?Or is this because it needs to be broke in for a wile?

Thanks Todd..

did you adjust the bubble stopper so that it's just above the surface of the water?

the bubble stopper is connected to the water outlet you need to adjust the water outlet so that the bubble stopper just breaks the surface of the water. you may have to turn it.

Is this the HOB version? If so i have the exact same one. It does take a month or 2 to break in and REALLY work well (with skimming and bubbles). To limit the amount of bubbles in the tank though (like virtually no bubble visible) I turn the output pvc valve to the right side of the tank so it's facing the intake pipe with the surface skimmer. This way the microbubbles don't get blown all around the tank and can dissipate and go to the surface. Also, since the bubbles are being spouted directly at the surface skimmer they get sucked back up again and hey, more bubbles right? I think it helps a lot. i keep the black sponge thing in the left chamber also, I do not use the blue one because I don't want any nitrate build-up. I was a little discouraged first as well, but after about 3 months I was really enjoying it, I have to empy my cup every 2-3 days and it always has nice foaming action. Also, I almost forgot to tell you about that hole that is in the right chamber. (supposed to be used for overflow?) I blocked it off with some soft wax and that REALLY helps the bubble situation as well. I do not even know why that hole is there, my skimmer has been running 5 months and I have never needed it/always kept it plugged up. The bubbles from the right kept going through the hole and right into the tank, it was driving me crazy. Hopefully you understood this, any questions just let me know. good luck!
