Leaking 6x turbo twist UV sterilizer

I bought a used 6x coralife turbo twist sterilizer the other used from ebay. I know, a roll of the dice. But it was only $35 and I figured buy it for the bulb. Turns out of corse, it leaks. Right at the main body where the quartz sleeve screws in. I thought it was just in need of new gaskets. That of corse did nothing. Seems that the top of the main body has a sort of squashed face, like the previous owner forced the quartz sleeve in. That seems to me the problem. Maybe it melted, I guess that could of happened if he some how left the light on though no water was in the dwell chamber.

So here is my thought:
a.) new main body- found one for $40.
b.)trash the whole thing and try not to be so cheap.
c.) stick the sterilizer (its HOB) in the return of my sump. I only have a 10 gallon sump so the water would never rise to the UV lamp with the cord. In this case, leaking main body would just drip into sump return. No harm done.

What do you guys think? Thing seems to work nice, other than the leaky main body. Thnaks!
