Just got my new skimemr- JEBO 520
Just recieved my JEBO 520. And wow was it alot bigger than I imagined. It's huge compared next to my Sealife 150 skimmer! anyone try one of these yet? kinda an experiment (before I get hit with stones for buying a cheapie!), I knew it had to be better than that sealife junk. Came with a huge pump ap5200, 845 g/p....

wow, look at how messy my room is...
anyone understand this:
"Cautions: After the PROTEIN SKIMMER is assembled, don't fill in water and begin to use until all tube joints grind in. This will take 24 hours."
this was part of the instructions.
also, anyone know if I'm suppose to adjust the air intake on this skimmer? it has a tube sticking out for air(3/8"?), and a 1/4" tube and air valve in the pump box. But the 1/4" line doesnt really fit on the air tube of the skimmer. I think its just extra parts. but wasn't in the instruction sheet. (yep just a sheet!)
thanks for any info

that is definately a step up!!
not following about the air tube. the bigger the air tube the better.
start with the outlet tube down as far as it can go till it starts to skimm. this may take a day or two. you will know. then start raising up the tube till you start getting a light tea coloured liquied. raise it very slowly. it takes time to get them adjusted right. to fast and you will easily flood the collection cup.

thanks man!!
to update my own last post. The seller said the 1/4' tubing was just extra stuff with the pump, not used on the skimmer. He also said the instructions were outdated, this skimmer has all the joints pre-done, so its ready to go out the box. Just wash it out then plug it in. I cant wait to see if it does any good. It actually kinda looks like a EUROREEF skiimer to me. Maybe a copycat. And I'm gonna do a mesh mod to the pump/impeller. The two I've seen done was a major upgrade to 2 different skimmers.
There's also a wierd elbow piping used , from the pump-- up , over, and down into the skimmer wall. Why this elbow? why not just plug the pump in right at the skimmer input?
I can post a pic pn the two if needed to help explain this.
Thanks again,

heres another pic dis-assembled.
anyone know why it has this elbow for the input? why not just pipe in straight in the input at the bottom? does this elbow of PVC serve a purpose?
thanks

Huh, I dont know. I wonder if it would affect the water level in the skimmer. Maybe try both ways and see what happens?

may have too...seems like it would force harder for sure bypassing..but I cant reason why it would be engineered for that, why not just use a smaller pump then? and I know of nothing that the water flow would make different. oh well, maybe it just fits better this way!

reduces backpressure on the pump and keeps the skimmer from draining.
