Has anyone have experiance with a Pressure Canister Filter with UV ?


Looking at trying the following. Seems like it would serve the UV function i am looking for



PRESSURE FILTER WITH UV$250.00 $150.00

CATALINA 4000 PRESSURE FILTER WITH UV
THIS PRESSURE FILTER COMES WITH A BUILT IN 11 WATT UV LIGHT
IT COMES WITH 3 STAGES OF SPECIAL BIOLOGICAL MEDIA FOR EXCELLENT BIOLOGICAL GROWTH. THE FILTER WILL HANDLE PONDS FROM 400 T 4000 GALLON SIZE.
IT ALSO HAS AN ELEVEN WATT UV COMPACT LIGHT BUILT TO KEEP OUT THE GREEN ALGAE.. THE CORD IS 16' LONG

i think most people here are going to tell you not to get it and that it will leech phosphates and nitrates back into your system. If you do get it, it seems most people run them without any media, just for the flow. However, I don't know if you are going to want to get it for the flow since you will be running UV in it, so i'd imagine the flow through it would be pretty slow.

pretty much what mdcorcoran has said. cannister filters if not cleaned daily will lead to phosphate and nitrate problems.

i am still lost on why you feel you need a UV sterilizer.
