Canister Question

I have a 40 gallon tank that will be converted into a reef tank. If I was to buy a canister filter and clean it everyday, would it be okay for me to use one then?

What do you want to accomplish by using the canister filter??

If it is to efficiently run carbon or possibly phosban, it can be a beneficial tool (but not necessary) to your reef tank, and you dont have to clean it every day. More like just whenever you change the media.......

I think a canister filter is good to have aruond ready in case you have a mishap and really NEED to run some carbon to clean any pollutants out of your water

But, if you are talking about using it for anything more than that, it is a unecessary thing for reef tanks...your live rock and flow throuogh it is all we really need for filtration
