Which UV Sterilizer?

I have a quiet one 6000 pump that was originally plumbed with a Lifeguard 25 watt UV sterilizer. I noticed that the light went out on my sterilizer after a year and a half (this after changing the bulb after the first year). So I figured the bulb just did not last a full year and bought another bulb, however the green light still does not light and now I am thinking maybe the ballast.

In either case, I need to know if there is a better UV sterilizer out there that will work with my pump (1506 gph rated).

Well for that pump you need about 160 watts of UV or more to effectively kill parasites. With a 25 watt it is even too little in my opinion for effective water clarity. I would grab a minimum of a 40 watt, if not an 80 watt. I believe Emperor is decent, but I'm running a lifeguard 40 watt and like it.

Thanks Hop. I thought maybe it was a little small for my tank. My tank is a 175 bow front with a 25 gallon sump. The pump (quite one 6000) runs a protein skimmer (homemade from LFS...and sucks) as well as the system. I also looking to replace this and am thinking about the AquaC EV 240, but don't know if my pump can run the whole shabang or it I will need a separate pump.
