SCWD and a mag12

hey guys just wondering what yall think...

i just got my 90g up and runnin....and for a return pump i have a mag12 and i also have a 3/4 SCWD sitting in the box still that im debating runin...

would the 3/4 be too much reduction on the mag12?

or should i just sell it?

Use the mag12 if you want but skip the SCWD. Even on my mag18, I don't like the way my 3/4 SCWD works on it. Too restrictive.

I was wondering about these SCWDs, it seems like they would create too much backpressure on the pump. Is that the main issue?

I've been using a 3/4" with a Mag 9 on my 55 as a return. It definitely reduce the flow, but that hasn't been a necessarily a bag thing as it's slowed the flow through my sump a little.

I was planning to the SCWD in a closed loop on my 110 with a Mag 12. I'm not sure how well it'll work as the more water going through it the faster it switches. So it may end up being to rough.

But I've been happy with my SCWD so far, as long as you into it realizing your going to have restricted flow and plan for it.

i havent used mine....and probaly wont.....the mag12 and 3 korilia 3's is PLENTY of flow in my tank....got one spot where its to much flow and i gota adjust that...

the SCWD is still sitting in its box...and is FOR SALE...
