Help me choose pumps

The equipment I have so far Tank 72x18x24 Tru Vu tank , Eheim 1262 return pump, Bubble King Mini 200 and I just can't make up my mind on pumps. I have narrowed it down between ecotech and tunze I just have no clue on how many I need and which ones are the best. I do not want BB tank so please take that in to consideration. I forgot cost is not an issue just want the best to keep a mixed tank.

Closed Loop System, even with a sand bed. Get a Dart or bigger and blast it away.

Vortechs all the way. Ever seen a closed loop do this? Notice that the table is rocking by the end of the video.

Only thing about the Vortechs is that you cannot point them. But They are AWESOME pumps and combined with the Icecap battery backup they could save your system in a power failure...

The only problem with that video is that it does not show the size of the tank. It's easy to create a big wave in a small tank but in a large system 6' and longer tank a CLS on a Ocean Motion is a better option IMHO.

Also IMHO a big wave is undesirable in a display tank. The loud sloshing and seeing the water go up and down is just not visually appealing to me.

I've actually heard less than stellar reviews of the battery backup systems. When IKE hit houston this last summer, a lot of folks relied solely on their icecap batteries, and I know more than one case where it was a mistake. They only ran about half their rated time, and one guy didnt even get that far. A couple battery backup air pumps are very helpful in any case.

Well with the skimmer and return pump you only have one choice Tunze...

I like my vortec, but with Tunze coming out with it's new toys, it is going to make for a hard pick between them and the tunze. Good luck!
