Question

T5 bulbs suggestions

I have a 60 gallon tank (48" x 15" x 20" h) and I plan to add a Tek retrofit kit 4 x 54. I was wondering what bulb configuration would work better with my setup. I really like the blueish tone and since my background is going to be the same color as my overflow box, I was wondering what would be best.

Here's a picture of the tank:

and this is the look I'm looking for:

that is a nice tank!! that is on the more yellow side than what "most" people like. i like the look of the tank above more than the usual blue tanks everyone keeps creating.

that maybe a combination set. the light in the front look more daylight than the lights towards the back. the corals in the back look more blue and washed out, so i am thinking that there is either a 20K/actinic back there somewhere. i am thinking there is a daylight bulb in the front. is there anyway you could ask the person whose tank it is?

I have 2 actinic+, 1 11k aquablue, and one GE 6500k daylight on my tank....I would say the coloration looks very close to the picture you posted. It's not as blue as most tanks like Geoff said, definitely not like 14k blue...To me it looks close to most 10k w/ actinic setups I see.

I might be able to PM you a pic if you like, although they are older pics.

I agree with Geoff, but I run 5 11ks and 3 blue plus and recommend it 100%, there isnt so much washed yellow and the blue is a much mellower blue.

However I have considered running a single atinic in place of the 3 blue plus just to see the difference.

Carlos fb - The red rocks are Lava Rock. I got them from two different LFS in my area. I try to mix up my rock color so I'd have color to look at even before my corals grow.

To me thats too much blue, but thats just me. On the closups you can tell its really blue.

Hes running top to bottom
daylight - 11k -Itanic - 11k - blue +

here is a quick pic of my blue+ and 11k combo.

I did not clean the reflectors so its a bit dirty, I took the pic at an angle so the light isnt to bright.

It's cool that you were able to indentify them. How do I get that look with only 4 x 54's ?

The look of the tank he posted pics of? I would try with both 11ks if you are running SPS, ditch the blue plus and keep the Actinic (if ytou like that much blue) and daylight, simply because people will argue you need the daylight, but my corals grow just fine without, so up to you if you dont go with the daylight. There is many combos, and honestly its user preference, most people get good growth results with most combos.

Its more getting the light output you need to keep the SPS corals that count within reason.
