Sunpod Owners.............

Id like to see pics of how you have your light seated over your tanks.....I had a near disaster last night...I HAD a glass top on my tank....I set the fixture directly on the glass, figuring it would be ok.....Well...Rookie's stupid idea or not, that was a bad idea. I knew the light would get hot, but I didnt know this light would cause untempered glass to break just from the heat.....No water splash, as at this point the tank was only half filled. No impact.....It just popped...I couldnt believe it.....Enough was held together by the hinge to keep the fixture from going in....But I spent some time carefully removing glass from the bottom.....Anyway, this presents me with a problem. I have the 20" model. the opening is 22". (24" would have stuck out past the sides of the tank) So how do I rest this light over the tank??? I dont want to hang it, and a hood would look like crap.............Lookin for a few ideas....

I think that you need the legs or docking mounts as Current calls them. The legs are angled and should fit to the rim of your tank. You got lucky with the glass top breaking, it could have been much worse.

The problem is that even with the legs, the footprint is narrower than the opening of the tank.....Its a corner tank, not a rectangle. Im prolly gonna fashion up some legs of my own, and attach them using the canopy mounting brackets.....I came up with a pretty good idea today.......And you're right Im lucky! Im sure glad that little hinge strip held the broken pieces together enough to keep the fixture from falling in!!

Thats solved, next question:

do any of you have timers set to cycle your leds in any way? I have the 250w so I have an extra cord for the remote ballast...What I've done is hooked up 3 timers, and right now its going like this:

8am blue leds on (sunrise)
9am white leds on/blue led off (early day)
12 pm Halide on/white led off
8pm Halide off/White led on
9pm white led off/blue led on
1030pm blue led off

Been reading the photo period threads, and how others cycle their lights to simulate a daily cycle.....But normally their coupled with actnics, etc... or multiple halides....but those are different issues........Just wonderin if anyone else has done this with their leds?
