Hi guys, I'd like to pick everybody's brain for a minute. I am doing an Honours project at my university next year on the effect of UV light on production of certain compounds in
star polyps and have been considering a few different lighting options. I know that HQI halides put out enough UV to burn corals if they don't have a shield but does anybody know how much UV T5's put out on average?
The reason I'm wondering is that I'm probably going to use a 40 breeder and will have to get 2 halides in order to have a control and test unless I can just get T5's and use two different UV filters. This, of course, depends on the starting UV output of T5's, though, because there's no point in using them if I can't have significantly different UV conditions. Hopefully you could understand my ranting and I would appreciate any input that anybody could give me. Thanks
