Nova T5HO fixture
I am interested in the Nova Extreme 4x54w T5HO lighting setup, but i was wondering if anyone knew how loud the fans were in the nova units? I read a review that said they were louder than other systems, but maybe it was just his fixture. Thanks for any input

Welcome to TRT!!!
i think it is the fans themselves on this fixture. i have read the same thing. it is hard to make vibrating fan quiet.

I have the Nova 48" fixture with 8X54W T5HO. It isn't too bad until I run all of the lights and both fans are running. Still not enough to drive me out of the room...........lol.

is it possible to disconnect the fans if i don't like them? i thought maybe if they were too loud i could cut the wires to them and buy a very quiet fan and install it into my canopy. My problem is i'm deciding between this nova t5 and a coralife pc. i know the fans on the pc are silent, but i also know the t5 lights are better, but being quiet is very important because of where the tank is.

I am sure you could disconnect the fans and run a fan in your canopy. Your decision between the coralife and T5 would depend on the corals your intend to keep in your tank and the size of your tank. I once used the coralife pc but switched because I wanted to keep more lps and some sps in my tank.

Go with the T5's. I am quite happy about my decision on the change from pc to T5's.

No it does not have individual reflectors. There is always a debate on that issue. Everyone has their own opinion about the reflectors. The fixture works great for me and the critters in my tank. It is an individual preference on what works in our tanks.

The reflector is in the shape of the top of the fixture. So I guess it would be in a "m" shape.
