Mangrove lighting

Recently added mangrove to the sump/refugium. Was told that grow bulbs were needed for this. The problem is the grow bulbs also grow red algae. Has anyone used a different light for these? Let me know if you would like any further information.

In theory, as the mangrove grows it will out compete the algae for resources and the algae will go away...in theory. But this takes time.

I use a white compact flourescent for my mangroves

Don't give them extremely strongly lights when they come to your door or else they go into light shock.
